The 1989 version of the Erie Orioles did not match the '88 clubs' accomplishments, finishing 14 games below .500, compared
with 1988's finish of 15 games ABOVE .500.
One bright spot - Mel Wearing, who accounted for 10 HR and 22 RBI as the starting first baseman. Tony Beasley led
the team with 69 hits and a .279 average.
Pitcher Mike Oquist went 7-4 with a 3.59 ERA, and a team-best 109 strikeouts.
